Podiatrists are Foot Health Professionals. We are trained to diagnose, prevent, treat and the rehabilitation of abnormal conditions. These conditions affect the feet and lower limbs. So, we help to prevent and correct deformity, to keep people mobile and active. Aswell as pain relief and treating foot infections.
Within the field of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery our scope of practice involves the treatment and management of patients that fall into the following categories:

Firstly, podiatrists have to undertake a Bachelors degree. Secondaliy, they complete 1000 clinical training hours in order to meet standards for the use of the protected titles ‘Podiatrist’ or ‘Chiropodist’. Our Podiatrist are trained in the use of local anaesthetics and we have a licence for issuing prescription only medicines.
